Fishing Report from TPWD (Oct. 13)

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 73 degrees; 1.11 feet low. Check the weather forecast before heading out this week. The water is slightly murky from the rain, but the fish are biting, so don't be discouraged. Fish are hungry, feeding up for the fall, so they are biting everything. Watch all wildlife because they will point you to schools of fish. White bass are good. Look to long shallow points and edge of humps in deeper water 18-24 feet of water with jigging spoons and Irish minnows. Fish slightly above the suspended schools. Largemouth bass are fair on spinners, shaky heads, Texas-rigged plastic worms, swimbaits, and diving crankbaits near brush piles, points, and docks. Crappie are fair on minnows in marinas and brush piles. Catfish are fair on chicken liver, live bait, and earthworms.
